BHNA March 1997
The Beresford Hillsdale Neighborhood Association (BHNA) is a large group of people who live in San Mateo and care about the area. BHNA holds regularly scheduled meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm. BHNA normally meets at the Beresford Recreation Center.
Our March 1997 meeting was held at our regular meeting place... the Beresford
Recreation Center at 28th and Alameda de las Pulgas. BHNA's president,
Susan Litvak, ran the meeting.
There were two subjects being discussed: expansion at the Hillsdale Shopping
Center and a status report on what's happening at the San Mateo Expo
Center (the County Fairgrounds). We have many members, but it seems that
only a few dozen people regularly attend meetings.
Hillsdale Shopping Center is going to be tearing down the old Sears buildings
and wants to build two new buildings to house Barnes and Noble bookstore,
the Good Guy's, Tower Records, a restaurant, and a clothing store.
The developer wants to put the buildings at the far side of the property
(near the creek on the left of the drawing), while the Planning Department
wants them to put the buildings up against Hillsdale Ave.
And a special thank you to Marge Humpries who continues to work hard to
keep the BHNA going.
